AMC Ice Program this weekend
« on: January 22, 2020, 08:25:26 PM »
On Saturday, January 25th, the AMC Ice Program will be setting up top ropes at Lost in the Forest and Walk in the Forest with about 22 students and about a dozen instructors.  On Sunday, we will be spread out at 4 different crags: Cathedral North End, Champney Falls, Trollville, and Texaco.

Hi Al,

The weekend went very well, thanks for asking!  We ended up sending groups to Cathedral North End, Champney Falls, and Arethusa Falls on Sunday based on information we had gathered.  Generally speaking conditions were great at all three locations, everyone had a fun time, and learned a lot.

As a heads up to the community we will be in the area again for our second program weekend February 8-9.  We'll be more distributed with smaller instructor/student pairs climbing at various locations, and possibly sending out one top roping group each day as well.  We'll post another announcement next week.

Best,

Matt

glad to hear it went well for all of you. I know the program well. I took it 20+ years ago so I could hang with my ex-wife Alyssa. and I learned some stuff. ;-) I also helped with it for many years up here. both the ice & rock programs are good.

Hello everyone,

Just a reminder that our second Ice Program weekend is coming up this weekend.  Typically we will break into small teams of 2-3 climbers and scatter throughout the valley for this weekend.  However due to the snow we will most likely send out 1-2 top rope groups as well each day -- currently thinking Texaco, Arethusa, and Trollville -- conditions depending, obviously.  Sunday we may have a few parties over at Willey's Slide as well, although again that will be based on the snow.

Cheers,

Matt
