Lake Willoughby Litter Update
« on: February 23, 2005, 05:40:26 am »
Been away a week+ climbing in the Canadian Rockies.  Amazing to see all those routes...everywhere you look.  It was worth the trip just to see the Weeping Wall.  Will post some pictures soon.

I continue to seek donations for the Lake W rescue litter.  The good intentions are nice, but what we need now is action.  I have a grand total of two donations.  I need more.  I look forward to seeing more checks arrive in the mail.  R.Doucette, 49 Crescent Ave., Melrose MA 02176

OK, you can use paypal if thats what works for you.  send an email to nancyeric@aol.com and tell him you want to make a donation to the willoughby litter fund.  if that doesnt work call eric at 508-366-5364.  he will tell you how to access a paypal acct that was set up for another purpose.  we can use it for this too.

I have good relationship with a company
called Skedco and when I called to ask about pricing they offered to donate a sked stretcher; http://www.skedco.com/sk200.htm   We have helped them out with some things and they were happy to reciprocate.  They are shipping it to Sterling within a few
days.

We can figure out logistics when it arrives here.

awesome news.  but keep that cash coming folks!  i want one for each end of the cliff, and the Skedco litter may need a couple of options to be purchased.  will see when it arrives and we test drive it.  might need to build a small shelter also.  the good thing is, the Skedco item rolls up into a small package.

Dave Powers, mopowers here, lives right up by Pisgah and is a carpenter. you should get with him to build a small shed to contain the litters. I'm sure that he would be willing to work on it. I would be willing to go up there once it's done & help haul it up to the cliff. it really should happen while there is snow on the ground so it can be slid.

BTW the other day I spoke with Rick Wilcox of the MW MRS. he mentioned that there is some possibility of getting a donation of another litter from the snow rangers at Mt. Washington. contact Chris Joozen & see if it can be worked out.

yup, i have offers from a couple of carpenter-types.  need to wait to see what kind of equipment we end up with before tackling that issue, then make the landowner (VT State Forests) comfortable with the location/size/impact of any "structure".

will also ID a local group or individual to put the litter out in the fall and take it in after the winter.  VTCrag has indicated they dont want to do that.  I have a couple of individuals who i will contact when we get to that point.

I can find out who the land manager is for willoughby state forest if you want and contact them.  I know a bunch of people in Vermont ANR.  Let me know. Maybe you have already done this.
