That overhang right behind Al in the recent photo looks rad! Do you think there are any free climbs out that thing?

dunno about that one specifically. there are a ton of variations of routes on the Pinnacle Buttress tho. if you haven't done it, winter or summer, it's well worth the effort. moderate climbing in a truly spectacular setting.

the answer is YES there are routes on that wall, and you are surprisngly not the first to ask the question. At least one of the routes was put up as a winter aid climb last February by several Russian climbers whom I know...this took 2 attempts; one of them is actually described by an observer in the TRIP REPORTS section of this website.


Just last weekend the same climber who led last year's project started a new route on the same side of Pinnacle Gully but didn't complete it.
