After topping out while soloing Cinema Gully I did some 3/3+ 50-60 foot route directly above. Any word on this, it is not in any of the guide books (any of the volumes). PROB done, but just curious. I would call it WHATEVER, if it is new.
Yeah me and a friend [John Bssulak] did that back in the early ninetys. Sure it is one of those routes that is ussually not there or gets snow stuck to it. Anyway when we did it ,it was right after a major thaw, melt out and refreaze. Think we saw it as a grade 3 ,sort of thin and spooky in spots and full of debris, dirt and some spruce or fir needles stuck in the ice. We thought about posting that in for Wilcoxs last guidebook as Wake Of The Flood but figured it wasn't note worthy enough and figured it rarely formed, just a product of the sudden thaw and refreeze.
Think it is referred to in some other guys guide book for the general North East. Forgot the name of the book but it covered both rock and ice.
