I need a guidebook
« on: March 31, 2003, 03:57:48 AM »

I will be coming to the Gunks to climb in mid-April. Can any-one let me know of a guide-book to climbing in the Area? This web-site describes pretty good routes, but I don't know how to get there  ::)

You can get pretty much all the information about the Gunks at this site: www.gunks.com. There are several options for guidebooks, i think the best option or the first time/ occasional visitor is the Gunks Select book by Dick Williams... it's available at any climbing store in the east. You can probably get it on Amazon too.

I second the Williams select guide for the Gunks, but one point I wanted to make is that "the routes described on this site", are mainly, if not all, in New Hampshire. The Gunks are in New York. It didn't seem as though you realized that in your post, but maybe I'm wrong. Good luck ;D
