the new webcam is on line now and the page is being tested. have a look. basically the camera moves around automatically and the page displays whichever vierw is current at that time. it is not optimal, as each viewer actually making a direct request to the camera for this image. what I want to do is to have it upload the images to the server so that all the load is on the server, not on my cable modem line. however I'm having a bit of a problem doing that right now. but for the time being it provides a dozen interesting views of the cliff. the image quality is significantly better than the old Axis cam.
BIG THANKS to Jim Frati who came over last week and helped me install the camera on the tree. it wasn't that it was hard, but it did take 2 people to manage and I was having a hard time getting motivated. you can see the camera by clicking on the link on the webcam page.
NOTE if you want to spend some time looking at a particular view I suggest you click on the image and drag it off onto your desktop. since the page automatically refreshes every 90 seconds you probably won't see the same shot the next time.
BTW if any of you have direct experience working with a Canon VB-C50i camera, please send me an email. I could use the help.
