Camping near climbs
« on: January 29, 2007, 11:08:17 AM »
Is there any camping around the Rumney or Kinsman climbs? Me and my friends have been doing our winter camping trip for 15 yrs in the Whites and Green Mnts, and the past two years we have tried to include some ice climbing. Strictly top roping. We did Champney and that was fine, but wanted to ask everyone if there was a semi secluded area that is TR friendly. Don't mind a two hour hike to the area, doesn't need to be spetacular climbing, just an area to camp and practice. Will travel up to 3 hrs for Boston

I don't think Evans is to TR friendly.  Layafette Place Campground in Franconia, TR at the Flume nearby.  A lady who lives across the street just about from Rumney offers camping on her land for a small fee but I have zero details.  Dry River Camground across from Frankenstein is open to winter camping.  Could hit Texaco Ampitheatre, Arethusa, and the Trestle all from there (probably most options in right now).
