February 3rd & 4th 2007

FRIDAY
Evening gathering in Stowe. Talk smack, get beta, meet some guides and other hard climbing fools.

Site for Friday night(7pm)! Mr. Pickwick's in Stowe. Mr. Pickwick's is attached to Ye Olde English Inne on the Mountain Road in Stowe across from the Stowe Cinema near the center of the village. A fine pub room with great atmosphere, lots of natural wood and fireplaces. 65 different single-malt scotches!!! 1964 to present day, a 30 year old McCallen,and much more. It will blow your mind. Great variety of beers and a good tap selection too.

SATURDAY
Intro to Ice - 9:00 am. Like it says, learn the basics. Approximately 6 hrs - Student to instructor ratio 4:1. $125.00 maximum. Call the EMS climbing school at 1-800-310-4504 to make your reservation. Spaces are limited.

Unleashed - try out some different tools and learn the techniques behind the hottest new approach to ice climbing. Approximately 6 hrs - $95.00 maximum. Student to instructor ratio 5:1. This class is for climbers with previous experience only. Call the EMS climbing school at 1-800-310-4504 to make your reservation. Spaces are limited.

Private Guide - just you and the guide, do a specific route or work on whatever you want, Approximately 7-8 hrs - $250.00. Call EMS climbing school at 1-800-310-4504 or call Petracliffs toll free at 1-866-65-PETRA.

Women's Ice clinic - Join other women in learning to climb ice. Call Petracliffs toll free at 1-866-65-PETRA. Approximately 6 hrs - $120.00 maximum. Student to instructor ratio 4:1

Free clinics - V-thread anchors & self rescue components. Sponsored by Eastern Mountain Sports.

Hot Soup! - Doug will be in the Stowe side parking lot from 2-6 pm handing out free hot soup. So stop by on your way out, have some soup, hang out and look at the new PA ice climbing guide.

SATURDAY EVENING

The Matterhorn - THE ICE BASH!!!, Join us for the big party. Make sure to wear or bring your climbing helmet! The Ice Toss - Teams of 2 compete on the dance floor in front of the cheering crowd. Hit your partner on the helmet with ice cubes, best out of 3 each (6 tosses) wins. Pull up contest, A frozen t-shirt contest and other cool stuff. Winners take home some cool booty! Dance and party to the Reggae band, the Anthem.

SUNDAY

Clinic; The Next Step- learn more, a good follow up to the intro course. Approximately 6 hrs - $125.00 maximum student to instructor ratio 4:1. Some basic previous experience required

Doug Millen - He will be the guy with the crutches and the Hot Soup!

Alden Pellett - Alden is a Smugglers notch veteran will be available for your questions on climbing in the notch and talk about setting up your rack for easier leading. Alden established the new route Pipe Dreams, WI6R/X M5, at Willoughby last season, and has been putting up mixed routes in the East beginning in the mid-90's motivated by Jeff Lowe's climbing at that time.


Ian Osteyee - Ian will be coming over from the Adirondacks to help out. Ian Osteyees is the thin ice master and has put up many new routes in the Adirondacks. He is the only AMGA certified guide in the Adirondacks with more than 20 years of local experience and knows the Notch very well. www.adirondackmountainguides.com

Rob Ginieczki - Griz will be coming up to join us with his new guide. Be sure ot check it out. You will be amazed at the amount of ice in PA. Griz has done an outstanding job on the guide.
