What were you surprised at, the beehive or the bolt?

In this forum it's not a silly question.   :-)

So what happened, did you climb through?

definitely not surprised by the bolt, it's an integral part of the route. the hive, well not surprised, but it certainly got my heart pounding. yes I just stepped around it & was thankful that I am not allergic to bee, wasp or hornet stings. <grin>

I'm a bit bummed you posted that photo... there we were wondering what to do after children's crusade, and we thought, "hmmm.. Lost Souls is supposed to be nice" and then I remembered your photo and that, plus the 3442.56 degree heat made us screw around on Ethereal Crack and 7th Seal instead...

How's this for opening another ethical debate: is anyone going to remove this? why not? ok to do so, but not if on rappel? insecticide is ok, as long as its "free on lead"? and don't you dare clip the bolt first! maybe if you're a real hardman you'd take it down with your fists, throwing it at your belayer just to spice up your relationship... I mean, unless you're dating him/her... or maybe especially, but that's another story, isn't it!

(....must get to work....)

I think we should place a piton in the hive.

We'll see if the pin-stealing scumbags will actually contribute something to society.

Well I for one am APALLED that some weak-kneed nancy placed a bolt there! As anyone can see, there's a perfectly good hive-tie-off placement just under it!

People these days, sheesh...

if we leave it there long enough maybe it will calcify and become a really good knob to hold on to. but WAIT, wouldn't that make it a glue on hold? did the wasps talk to the first ascensionist before they glued the hold (er hive) onto the rock? (hmm... they couldn't because he's dead!) but then shouldn't the hive be CHOPPED???
