Hiked up to Eagle Cliff Sunday with Chris Marks with the intent of freeing a aid route I put up a couple years ago with Jamie Cunningham. Persistence is a three pitch 5.10a, A2 that took Jamie and I five tries over two months in all kinds of weather to complete. I went up there last year with Peet Dannon and put him on the aid pitch with a power drill to add bolts where I had bad pins with the hopes of freeing the pitch. Things were damp so the aid pitch would have to wait. We climbed to the top with Peet leading the last 5.9 pitch wet. He did a great job moving over pissing wet slabs. This time the rock was dry and the bolts were in place to work the route. I put Chris on the aid pitch knowing that is was probably 5.12+ and that he was strong enough to send it. He climbed strong into the crux and came off when his hand greased on crumbling shwag. Got it next go and fell farther up on a missed hold then sent that and made it to the belay. I then led the last pitch in perfect weather. Jamie was down at the Poop and Scoop parking lot with his Nikon snapping shots while we climbed and I took some butt shots and some from the top that Jamie will send along soon. This climb is so out there with exposure and alpine feel. You look across the valley at Cannon lower than you. Persistence is all you need. Third times a charm. Syko

Good work boys.  I would not have expected anything less than an epic climb up there.
