Sorry boys, about a decade too late. Several lines I know of in various forms were done long ago in that area on straight shaft tools (without rock gear) between 1997-00.  Isn't it all Mindbender anyhow? We always thought of our ascents as simply a variation form of Call of the Wild.  Who knows what Shim and others have done there.

PS- Promenade roof has also been done via drytooling to a freehanger(without gear).

Way to get after it though! Anyone who's been there knows, it's sick fun going out that upper roof, regardless of conditions.

I hadn't realized that you could do a an ice rout in lean conditions and then rename it?  I know these guys are hard and that the climbing is hard but it still seems totally effin ghey to claim a new rout  just because the conditions have changed. Heck I do a new rout evey week if that is the criteria......

Both of the above posts are true.  Do you really need to pad your ego that much as to rename an existing route just because you did it in lean conditions?

That's funny, that what I thought about the renaming of SuperNova. At no time is the french var. more than ten feet away from the original line. Same finish no less. Should of been proud to have done the second ascent and the first free ascent. Crying shame they put the bolts in. Syko
