I am a University of Toledo Engineering Student. (That's in Ohio) I am working on a project that involves lifting a disabled person from his bed to a wheel chair. It is a complicated story but the gist is he has an electric lift that lifts him and lowers him now but it breaks down. My client would like a manual operation lift that his wife can lift him up with.
I use to teach repelling at a Boy Scout camp years back (wish I had kept with it) and I was wondering if anyone can tell me what kind of climbing gear setup I can buy that would cut the weight of 150 lbs down to closer to 30 lbs .(using a pulley system of some sort) This equipment will need to have a catch so it won,t drop him if his wife loses her hands on the rope. Thanks for any input.
