General crampon questions
« on: December 07, 2001, 01:21:49 PM »
Anybody have any suggestions on bending crampon bails to fit different boots?  I usually just clamp them in a vice and try to bend them as carefully aspossible, which works, but it is difficult to get exactly the shape I want...

Also, any ideas on where to get a good quality metal file set, either locally or on the internet?
Everybody wants to go to heaven, but no one wants to die.

as far as bending the bails, I think you have the right idea. I've never found any better way to do it.

regarding files, I just went down to Chick & looked at the various files till I found a flat file that felt about the right size. next time I see you ask & I'll show it to you. it's about 10" long.
