Climbing in/near Cambridge, NH
« on: June 24, 2009, 09:57:21 AM »

Hi,

I will be staying in Umbagog Lake State Park next week Jun 27 - Jul 3 for a family vacation and I would like to try to sneak in some climbing if I can.  Is there any climbing in the park or within, say, 30 mins drive?  I would only have about 6 hours or so to climb so nearby is important.  If anyone would like to try to meet up with me please let me know either here or you can email me: ddavies {at} ddavies {dot} net.

Thanks!
Derek

To the best of my knowledge there isn't really anything up there. Maybe some bouldering, but i don't know of any in particular. The lake regions north and south of the Whites are pretty flat. bring chalk and shoes and keep your fingers crossed. maybe you can take a break in Gorham on the way up there.

I think there some climbs off the beaten track in the Gorham area, but without good beta you'd probably spend your whole time sussing them out.

If it were me, I'd just hike up Old Speck.
