Stuff is starting to form...we were out at Frankenstein last Sun and there was ice on most of the major routes...unfortunately, none of them had enough ice on them to be called in.  Standard might be doable as a hard mixed route, but it will only take rock gear right now.  I don't think any of those routes will really be in shape for this weekend.  We also checked out the ice up at Pitcher (Champney) falls...plenty of water but not much ice yet.  I guess both ravines up on Washington have climable stuff in them right now, but the approach is tough since there is still not much snow.  Still, Tuckerman's and Huntington will probably be the best bets for this weekend.  Don't know about Franconia...

I climbed Standard yesterday, Tuesday. it was OK. you couldn't really get any gear in and the ice was moderately thin but it felt OK. it should be OK on the weekend. I'll have an update in the Report late tomorrow. if you don't subscribe, check the site on Friday afternoon.
