Franconia area bouldering
« on: September 09, 2010, 12:19:12 PM »

Does anyone have any recommendations for bouldering around the Franconia area? I'll be staying up in Bethlehem for the weekend and looking for something worthwhile close by.  Thanks!

There are some decent boulders on the east side of the notch Just North of the pullout where you used to view the old man from. They are not very far from the road, so it shouldn't take you very long to find them. After real climbing, we'd grab some beers and play there, .... haven't been on them in years, so not sure what it looks like now.

Jeff send me an email. I know of a decent place near Loon Mt. but it is on private property (they don't mind a person or two as I have bouldered there for a number of years). It is not that bad. It will keep you occupied for and hour or two.

Take the Tram Exit, park near the "Old Man Viewing" trail... follow trail south, take left under highway. Enter woods right at the 90 degree right turn in paved path. Many great looking boulders right there with chalk on them. This is the start of the Eaglet Approach.
