ankles
« on: February 08, 2010, 05:51:29 PM »

Since we were going on about toes- I got lots of ankle problems as i am sure many people do.
eversion- the outward twisting of the foot

bone chips

previous achilles tear

broken all the toes except one

I am now starting to wear an Aircast a80 brace on the right ankle. Anybody ever try this ? it seems to have an immediate good feel. Also allows good back to front movement.

I had ankle reconstruction done back in '93. It is way better than it was prior to busting it all up...so I would put it at about 70%. The good thing is that I have yet to twist it since they screwed and tightened everything in there...wouldn't want to go through any of that again though. 6 months of intense rehab to get it feeling right...still hurts from time to time.

I have heard that ankle rehab is crazy compaired to hip or knee. Those I didn't mind so much. Though my neighbor had his SECOND shoulder replace at 69 years and is fine, golfin' buildin' and such

Yah..it was pretty intense, but the cool thing about it was how well I could walk directly after rehab. It would stiffen up, swell up and turn pretty colors a day later, but I always had that relief after the session. Eventually, it stopped swelling and turning colors...but I never regained the strength or flexibilty in the joint...still hurts at times, but it is still better than it was when I shattered it!!  ;)
