I had my aliens re-slung last fall at ragged for 5 bucks a cam.  They replaced the dynema with nylon (much more abrasion resistant IMHO) and did a great job i think.  I'll let you know after I bomb on one.

My partner has been using these now for three years.  He has had to replace the trigger lines twice.  The spectra cord they use is crap and doesn't withstand abrasion.  Get som

the trigger lines are in Kevlar as far as I known.
Did your partner send them to Metolius to change them ?  What is the cost per cam for that repair ?

This is from the Metolius repair form:

Service Fees:
Re-Slings are $3 per cam and includes: Inspection, Cleaning, Lube, Tuning, and new Nylon/ Dyneema Slings.
Re-Wires are $8 per cam and includes the Re-sling service PLUS new trigger wires or cords.
We will contact you if additional repairs are deemed necessary.
Return shipping is $10 for UPS Ground in the USA.

All done for $18, shipping included...not bad.

Hey,

I am looking for some opinions on the metolius master cam.  Is it durable? Seems well built but I am still not convinced and never used one in actual rock yet.

Thanks,

Ross

Just another perspective on your question: I've been using the Mastercams heavily for 3+ years now, and have had no issues with the trigger cords. The plastic sheaths tend to get a bit beat up, but this has no impact on function. I have found them to be remarkably durable, and I use them tons for both work and play. I originally bought them to replace my final set of Aliens when they were finally worn beyond hope, and my firm opinion is that the Mastercams are FAR more durable than Aliens ever were.
