Shell Pond Maine?
« on: June 12, 2011, 06:16:17 am »
Looking for info/beta/topos/guides describing Shell Pond and/or any other crags near Evans Notch in Maine. Any tidbits would be useful. Mt Project has nothing, the same for this site. Other sites (WESTERNMAINEROCK.COM) that seemed to have info at one time are presently dead.
I have heard rumors of a mini guide that exists but no way to locate it.
Thanks for your help.

Indeed, why are the locals so tight-lipped about Evan's Notch? Good question.

I wish I knew more, and I live right near the crag. I don't know if you were able to access the information Dman was good enough to share with me here, but if not post up and I'll see you get it. There is great climbing on the so-called Family Wall for mere mortals, but that is just scratching the surface of what has been done there.I can also supply a photo/topo of Laughing Lion, but that looks like you need to be pretty solid at 5.11.There is also a video,I think on Vimeo,of Mark Richey's project at Shell...way overhung.

I recieved the guide to Family Wall, looks fun for the whole family!
Laughing Lion  must be the stuff I have heard about and wish to visit...Any info regarding the approach, route names, grades, features to find the routes by and rough locations would be appriciated!!!
Thanks

Hey Dawes,
It's Freddie, we met out at Wild River last year. Drop a note and I can set you up with some beta!
All best,
