Crews said they rescued a Massachusetts man who was doing a 550 feet climb of Recompense Pass in North Conway after he fell 20 feet to a ledge below on Saturday afternoon.
Mark Gallagher, 48, suffered a compound fracture of his left leg. Gallagher was 120 feet from the top when the accident occurred. He was rescued with the help of New Hampshire Fish and Game, Mountain Rescue Service, the U.S. Forest Service and members from the North Conway fire department.
He was taken to Conway Memorial Hospital for treatment. Recompense Pass is part of Cathedral Ledge in North Conway.
