WINTER STORM WARNING!

*sigh* 

That just means I have to go plow, and deal with all of the idiots out there....  I don't ice climb (at least not yet), so I'm glad someone is excited about this white crap falling from the sky!

I like snow too, but had a killer day bouldering down here yesterday, 40's, no wind and full sun.  Now it is sleet and freezing rain with an icy crud covering everything.

some nice snow on Monday was followed up by drizzle and freezing rain on Monday night - Tuesday morning. it's a real mess out there today and a 2 hour school delay to boot. I'm surprised that schools weren't cancelled considering how the roads look! it's 40 degrees at 8:45!

We got 4-5" of heavy white stuff up here in the Valley overnight. Still snowing lightly at 7:20. Definitely a White Christmas!

It's been raining since about 10AM, right after I finished snowblowing. What a mess out there. We've gotten a bit over 1 inch of precipitation today. It's 52 degrees out there now at 3:55, and it's raw and nasty because of the rain. hopefully it's going to get cold tonight.

North End today... it is "in"... at-least 4 lead-able lines on the pillars... didn't do the slab but a few people did... report was it is thin at the top.... Thresher looked thin at top but totally doable at the grade...

Driving conditions: A bit to much for my front wheel Matrix but anyone with clearance can drive all the way in....

FYI: Chris Magness climbed Thresher a couple of days ago and said it was totally unbonded. I thought that the slab wasn't as thick as usual and the top has some rock. the pillars are OK, but not nearly as thick as usual. they are already getting hacked up pretty good.

For this early in the season they are pretty thick, and sections are growing with yummy plastic ice both in the center and the left hand pillar... 4 lines on them will take 16cm screws... so I call that IN. Then again, I'm glass half full kinda guy...

Absolutely beautiful drive through the notch this morning at 6:30. Alpenglow just striking the summit as I drove by the AMC. The ice looks great everywhere. I certainly hope the warm spell doesn't set us back too much.

I agree, we've had some amazing sunrises lately. I doubt things will fall down, or really go away, unless we get a massive rain - which is NOT predicted.

For a change I walked the dog down to Cathedral this morning. The Diagonal Pillar is gone, as is much of the ice up high. However, the North End is still looking fairly good. I was surprised to see that Thresher, the slab and the pillars are all still standing and looking OK. It's supposed to start cooling down tonight (into the teens) so if we can get through today we should be all right.

Great news!
A lot of the stuff on Willard took a hit, but so much water running up there that a cold snap will have the place back in climbable condition in no time.
