8AM, cloudy, 31 degrees, about 1/2" of fresh snow on the ground and probably another 2" to come...

SWEET

Went over to the North End this afternoon for a little exercise before the big game. 40 degrees and absolutely great ice. I ran up Thresher and 3 of the pillars on the right. Good funů

Walked down past Diedre - the start wasn't in, tho the pillar looked good. Remission didn't look hood at all. The upper pillar looked all broken up! However P1 of Repentance looked great. I wish I'd hooked up with someone earlier in the day to give it a run. It's gong to be brutally cold the rest of the week so I'm not sure how much fun it's going to be out there on the ice.

Go Pats!!

WOW... It's -4 here in the Valley at 7 AM and we keep getting this "light breeze" that brings the wind chill down to negative teens! The wood stove is cranking along and I'm expecting that it's going to be at full blast or close to it for the next day or two at least. You know it's so cold the the Wildcat Ski area is closed for both Wednesday and Thursday. I don't know what you're going to do, but I'm going to hunker down and work on music and any stuff I can do inside. Maybe even ride the bike trainer or something. I'm not looking forward to walking the dog, I'll tell you that...

Mount Washington Observatory: Today by the numbers:

Low Temperature (as of 6 PM EST): -35 degrees F
High Temperature (as of 6 PM EST): -28 degrees F
Highest Wind Gust: 85 mph (which occurred at 2:45 AM)
Lowest Wind Chill: Although we do not formally record wind chill, as it is merely an apparent temperature, the lowest figure that summit observers have calculated today was a frosty -87F. This most likely occurred when the temperature bottomed out at -35F around 830 AM EST, and winds were averaging just over 70 mph for a time.
