Well we've gotten close to a foot of light powdery snow already today and we're not even into the main part of the storm yet! It hasn't gotten above 18 degrees today and the winds are now starting to pick up a bit. A few minutes ago you couldn't see anything outside at all - complete whiteout! I'm glad I don't have to go out tonight.

Looks like this is really going to actually be quite a storm...

Climbed at the north end today....crowded (shocker) but fun.

Really is a constant snow storm...hardly let up at all today and calling for it to snow more and harder tonight.

Didn't seem all that cold, compared to yesterday it was much more comfortable to climb in.

several years ago I was guiding at the North End. it snowed just like this all day long. around lunch time there was an avalanche off of the slab just right of Thresher. the snow gave off a big WHUMP, and let go. it easily could have swept someone off the ledge and down into the rocks below, with disastrous results.

just a heads up...

I saw the N. End slab slide while guiding once... different conditions though (warm and wet)... we had just moved our packs towards the pillars when the top 1/4 failed and slide down almost top the road....

Weird, Cranmore only reported 5" of new snow as of 4pm today.

Well over a foot of snow here at my house by Cathedral Ledge, 16 degrees and the wind is still howling. The snow is still coming down at a good clip, but it's supposed to start slacking off around noon. Everywhere you look the drifts are piled way up. I'm pretty sure you're not going to be able to drive down to the North End any more this season! if you're out climbing today, be well aware of what's above you. Slough avalanches can come down from almost anywhere.

Enjoy...

It's been snowing lightly all day and it was up to 40 degrees this afternoon. Because of some stitches in my forearm I'm not really supposed to climb 'till Wednesday, but I just couldn't stand it any more and went over to the North End of Cathedral this afternoon. What a zoo! there must have been 40 people there. I still managed a couple of laps on Thresher and the ice was great. Walked by Deidre and the lower pitch is very thin, Remission has a lot of ice but it looks funky, and Repentance which looks pretty darn good. The corner Unicorn is also looking lots better.

Get out and CLIMB!

Dog woke me up at 2 so I went for a walk... Probably 4" of powder out there and more still falling! This stuff is heavier than the last dump we got.

Snowed all night and it's snowing now! Looks like we're going to get on the high end of the 4-6 predictions.

Looks as if we're going to get another significant round of snow starting late tonight or tomorrow morning. A possible 6-8!!!! I'm getting a little tired of this...
