If you have been to Rumney or any of the other nearby areas of the Southern Whites  like Newfound Lake lately and can give us an update on conditions, post up.

As of Saturday, there was no ice at Rumney.  We only saw running water and some small icicles.

Went riding at waterville today.  Not too bad.  First turns of season, finally.
Checked out newfound also.  Just a few drive bys.  Bloodline and duofold look
good and are filling in nicely.  Ready to go but with these lame temps who knows
how long?

Climbed Doufold this afternoon.  The right side was solid, top pillar was a little thin.  The left side curtains are not filled in.  I placed a v-thread about halfway up after a brief TR session.  Bloodline was very wet, especially at the bottom but the route was being climbed.

Sat 12/31. Drove by Rumney early AM and was surprised at the ice. Looks like it may be climbable by next weekend if all goes well. Frankie Lee was top to bottom as well as Center Fold. It just needs time to build. Stuff to the right of Center Fold was also coming along.
I made a trip up to Fletchers Cascade and was also suprised at the conditions. We did three pitches on the main flow and then did laps on the bottom to the right. The ice was fat and plastic. Had the whole place to ourselves. The walk in was something else, should of had the micro spikes. Sure good to just get out and swing them again.

Where is fletchers cascade? how hard?

Fletcher's cascade is in Waterville.  Parking is at the Drakes Brooks Trail head.  The climbing has one real major obstacle that goes at 2+, otherwise very similar to Flume Cascade, at least I think so.

Actually, the flow to the right of the main flow is around 20 ft long at 80 to 90 degrees. If you follow the main flow up for a couple pitches on the right there's another flow through the woods and it's about 30 ft tall and according to Jack Dorsey's post last winter it was looking like a grade of 4. It depends, early season ice is usually a bit steeper than the actual established grade suggests. Sometimes a full grade.  Lets not go there and let it go at WI something in a beautiful place with no crowds. Enjoy !

I was out at Rumney yesterday (1/2) for some climbing at Main Cliff. It was warm and sunny with mostly dry rock and no ice. While we were climbing there was a ton of icefall echoing across the hillside from Orange Crush, Main Cliff Right, and what sounded like the Venus area. Based on the sound, some of the falls were quite large. Careful up there!

At Rumney today, 1/31.  Cave route quite detached with lots of running water but still quite thick.
Selsun Blue was rushing water also but was being led.  Geo factor and fang looked good from road?
Apocalypse wall looked okay from road and Centerfold looked thin.  Parking lot, all right.
Sobering statistic:  75% of days since Nov 1st have been above average temps.

Must be getting close to the end of the season. Had Newfound to ourselves last sunday and Kinsman today.  Nobody and was quite fun actually early in the a.m.  Left for some spring turns at Loon in the p.m.  Hope everyone made the best out of this winter and here's to next season.

Any idea what the rock climbing conditions at rumney look like currently? And does anyone know if the campground across the road is open yet?
