Bug Con- 1???
« on: May 17, 2015, 07:45:06 PM »
Based on all day at Jockey Cap today, I gotta believe it needs to be in the 4-5 range right now!  They were horrible this morning, and not a lot better in the afternoon.....  I can see upper elevations being less, but in the Valley it's way more than 1!

strange... I was out the past couple of days in the woods and hardly got nibbled - even with no bug dope on. I will raise it to a 2, but I think it's definitely dependent on where you are.

Can't hardly walk outside here at home in Effingham without getting swarmed by the little bastards....  I give it 3-4 days, tops, before you are ready to raise it all the way up!

Going to climb at the Chino Craig tomorrow. That should tell the tale...

Humphrey was bug free this morning in the Wanderlust area... but when we dropped into the Geriatric area for afternoon it got a bit noticeable... finished around 2pm over at Robinson Crusoe and no bugs there... Last week I was very glad I brought Deet with me to Longstack, as it was a bit vicious down there.

I had to work all morning, but I had dot take my car into the shop around 3. when I rode back there were no bugs any time I stopped. this evening I went out to the garden to put in some seeds and water and terse were 1 or 2 blackflies, but I didn't get bitten at all, I think it's all dependent on where you are and the breeze. Jeff L was out on Whitehorse and he said there was a light breeze and they were negligible.

go figure...

that said I will up it to a 2, just cause! ;-)

Yeah, really not a problem at Whitehorse yesterday- we finished up at about 5 pm - three of us-no bites; of course Jockey Cap is in Maine and everyone knows that the black fly is the Maine state bird! ;D

Oops,  I guess I should have added that my info came out of Pawtuckaway and Longstack.  It's not only the black flies but Mosquitos seem to be thriving at present too!

I only go to Pawtuckaway when the trees don't have any leaves, too buggy otherwise.

P-way is my home crag. I was there yesterday late afternoon. Put on some natural bug spray stuff my partner had and they pretty much left us alone.... I am also use to suffering there though haha
