The American Alpine Club and the Mount Washington Observatory are pleased to present:

Changing Climate, Changing Mountains: Ice Volume Research in Alaska and Implications for the Future of Classic Glacier Mountaineering Routes

WHAT: A slide show with scientist and AAC Research Grant award-winner Seth Campbell

WHEN: March 24, 2012; 7:00 p.m.

WHERE: Mount Washington Observatory’s Weather Discovery Center
White Mountain Hwy
North Conway, NH

American Alpine Club Member and Grant Award Winner Seth Campbell will present stories from his glacier studies from the Arctic to Antarctic with a focus on changes in Alaska as they relate to classic mountaineering routes such as the West Buttress of Mount McKinley.  Seth will mix a bit of glacier and climate sciences with mountaineering in this entertaining story about glacier change.  He may even try to persuade you to help him on his next adventure with images of mountain and glacier scenery from around the world.  All ages are welcome to attend!

Seth Campbell is a research scientist working for the US Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Lab.  His career path has included wilderness emergency medicine, outdoor education, consulting, and scientific research for state and federal agencies.  These combined careers all have one underlying link: a passion for the remote mountain environments around the world.  Seth has been fortunate to travel, work, and play in such locations as Alaska, Canada, Antarctica, Greenland, and South America, among others.
