Great book, but there just isn't any "there" there.  Not a book you will think about in 20 years.

if you're interested in music, I suggest A Life In Music by Ben Sidran. Ben is a great piano player who was the piano player in the original Steve Miller band and he wrote The Joker. he plays great jazz and has been around forever. his son is also a good drummer. here's a great tune from YouTube:

- Lord of The Flies, A Clock Work Orange,
- The Grapes of Wrath,
- several by Gabriel García Márquez if you like this genre

The Rum Diarys. Actually anything by Hunter S Thompson would work
Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy and the ensuing sequels
The Portable Beat Reader has a good collection of stories and excerpts from Kerouac, Ginsburg, Kesey, and the like
Kurt Vonnegut also makes for a good read

I seem to remember Bunnicula being a good read.  That was about 25 years ago though.

Shadow Divers by Robert Kurson.  A true story about these dudes that discover a German u boat off the jersey coast.

Makes climbing without a helmet seem like a walk in the park.
