New Route Potential!!!

Anyone interested in some first ascents in Washington State?

This formed about 5-6 years ago...maybe more in the volcanic crater of Mt St Helens. It has literally been growing inches every day since...pretty crazy.

I can see it now.

Leader: "...man that bolt looks higher than last year"

Belayer: " (cough) yeah right...what is the clifff growing or something??"

Bystander: "yes...yes it is."

    Also if they really have the growth per year dialed in they can inclue in the guide books what year it'll take two ropes to rap off.

There is a companion image to this which shows it in thermal view, the rock is somewhere in the several hundred degree range!  >:(

Nothing to do with St. Helen's, everything to do with new route potential: I got an e-mail today from my buddy Patrick, who somehow keeps winding up working in Africa. Probably because Exxon pays him a shit load to do so. Anyway:

"I'm in Angola.  I really need a climbing partner.  This shit is amazing.  There are like 10 devil's towers/looking glass caliber places [in another e-mail he identifies the rock as granite] that I know of that are fairly accessible from good roads.  Totally untouched."

So who needs to go to the back of beyond in Chad and Mali?

Todd Skinner once told me that "Africa is where it's at"  that was in the 90's

Of course he also spewed about some " bouldering in texas" and  " stuff in greenland"
