So I just went through all my archived pictures from Thanksgiving 2000-2011. With one exception there really wasn't climbable ice in the lower elevations. That said, most years we already have snow by now, at least in the mountains and notches. I'm convinced that if we get snow in the notches, we will have ice.

If we start getting more and more winters like last year i am gonna be pissed. I love me some good rock climbing but ice is what i really get excited all year about. Plus without real winters New England just is not New England.

Yeah, not normal; I roped climbed today in a long sleeve T-shirt, almost 55F for high in MA.  Stellar conditions, Farley's heinous slopers back in July felt like jugs today!

If so i will moving or and my rock climbing will be taking a big hit as i will be working much harder spring summer and fall so i can travel to climb in the winters...

The weather changed last night big time. Went from mid-40's to 20's and snow flurries and very windy. Probably not a day for the mountain bike! If it stays like this we should see significant ice soon.

Indeed it is. My climbing clothing is the only winter clothing i own. Prior to climbing i spent winters out west in the desert riding my bike in circles. Before that i was just a punk kid that like to skateboard and ride BMX bikes. I wore Vans year round even to shovel the driveway when i was a kid. As you can tell i am very practical

For the past 2 days there has been some good ice on Odell's center. Looks like we are getting close...
