A Via Ferrata might be nice as well..maybe on Wiley's ?

Didn't the state let Bretton Woods put something akin to one out by Oscar?

Bretton Woods has about eight bolted routes out at Mt Oscar accessed via a free chairlift ride and 30 minute hike. This is not the part of Mt Oscar you'd normally climb or find route info on. It's mostly for hotel guests.

One of the routes is about 350 feet or so and usually has a static rope on the entire route. A guide leads and brings up the clients and if they can't climb they'll grab the rope.

Anyone can climb there. I was actually out there and have climbed the routes and they're not bad. A very different day out having to ride the chair up and down!

Yes, so understandably the AMC would want one. " Party number three you are off ze approved Shoestring trail, you will be fined !"

I hate riding the chair up and down when I'm climbing Mark !

Take a number - just like at the deli counter! And yeh, would rather "earn" my routes but will admit two things - the routes were a great place to take someone relatively new to climbing (great views and never saw anyone else) and after 45 years of skiing it was a strange feeling riding a chair down.

If I remember this whole Bretton Woods service was debated here a few years ago.

Just a reminder, meetings tonight and tomorrow night concerning hut construction.  This is the best opportunity to be heard.

Having a strong presence at next week's Crawford Notch meeting is a good start.  Rally your family and friends.  And discuss talking points here.  We need an informed, mild-mannered unified voice.

Agree with this. ELM made some really great points early on in this thread about the environmental impacts. Id like to voice my opinion as well and that information is useful. If others have more to add, it seems like this could be a great place to address specific concerns.

No trouble with access any of climbs. You should be able to take a cart of golf to String Shoe and Lost in Clouds. Lost in Clouds of Sun will require 20 minute hike, with ropes of static railings though.
