i disagree with that.. bouldering you at least have a pad and spotters and rock that is able to be climbed..  buildings aren't build to be climbed and tend to be polished like that guy found out.

And since you have to boulder to get to the first piece of pro on every trad climb you do  perhaps some practice is a good idea.

Old folks (and I consider myself one) and people with bad/weak ankles and knees need to be very careful about landing.  Only thick pads for me now when I boulder.  I think back to the days when pads were the exceptions and not the norm and marvelled at the fact that I did not injure myself at LWoods, The Pound, or the Buttermilks. Pure luck I am sure.

Bouldering encourages falling/jumping as a normal part of the activity= injury. I prefer soloing for practice. I understand that this will not make me as physicaly strong as pushing to failure but at least i will not hurt my old bones....

What am I doing wrong?  Still bouldering at 52 and have never been injured from falling, knock on wood, though I did pop a tendon in Hueco on better eat your wheaties.

The question is what you are doing RIGHT, Ward.
I have seen you guys at it so I think I know.
But one still has to wonder if you have a fountain of youth tucked away in your backyard or if you are a mutant. :)
