My wife and I lived in Las Vegas for a season. One of the cool things the climbing community did there was a beer night. Local climbers as well as anyone from out of town would get together at a chosen spot(Moat). It seemed like a great way to meet the community, meet new partners and get to know about others projects in the works.
I had the luck of meeting and climbing with a long time local named Larry. After the 3 hour approach to the start of the line Larry wanted to put up, (4 pitch off width) he put on his swami belt and let me know his nick name.... Scary Larry!
Getting to the top was not half as exciting as getting down. With the bolting ban in affect Larry brought a assortment of webbing/rope with various nots pre tied. The decent was 3 repels with various nots wedged, and a chock stone tied off. I believe Larry named the route cool hand luke 5.9....+ The + is all me but my sense of adventure is far less than his. If any of you know Larry you know he is the real deal.
So just wanted to throw out the idea and see if there is any interest in a community gathering like this.
