Frankenstein is toast!
« on: April 02, 2014, 09:46:33 PM »

I climbed a few pitches this afternoon and encountered nothing more than granulated slush.  Chia was sketchy, backed off the Pegasus pillar twice before down climbing, and better ice lower on Smear enticed me into shitty terrain to the point where up was a better option than down; I watched half of Cave Route calve off.

All the fun, harder stuff is gone.  Standard is audibly running water from the tracks, I assume Dracula is the same.

Frankenstein is not worth the drive from North Conway (or points further south!).

Huntington, conversely, is in spectacular condition although things are a little sunbaked and harder to protect (if you're using a rope), otherwise the climbing is stellar.
