great day with George
« on: February 04, 2014, 09:32:07 PM »

went over to Cathedral & climbed Repentance today with George. he turned 79 in January and he's still getting at it. he ran the 1st 2 together and I did the chockstone pitch. I thought that it was one of the more difficult and committing things I've led in a while. especially since I didn't have a #2 or #3 to protect the crack! [sigh]

So you went right, eh?  Me too!  At least there was a fairly high screw.  Last week there were at least some ice boogers in the crack...

Sounds very cool.  congratulations you lucky ones  8) By lucky I mean you have these climbs in your front yard. I suppose good health has an element of luck as well.  Some folks eat  all the right things, do all the exersise and their bodys still crap out on them....
Which is harder?  repentance or WITW?

Which is harder, Repentance or WITW?

that's a good question... I would say Repentance, but of course it depends on the conditions at the time. Of course WITW doesn't have a chockstone exit!

Wow! George is such an inspiration. I hope I'm still climbing 25 years from now! I'm just a youngster of 54 and when I did it in my early 40's it was hard!

Awesome Al and George!!!

George simply defies reason...Every passing year he amazes me more and more. I only pray I can be half that active and strong at 79.   ;)

Nice.

It will be a few years till any pair of climbers beat that combined age ascent! George will keep going for many more years, I'm sure.

Steve I wouldn't take that bet because it will be broken next year when Al & George do it again.
