NE's Hardest Boulder Problems
« on: March 27, 2014, 12:39:05 PM »

Reviving the old list of hardest problems around from newenglandbouldering.com The old list was last updated in 2003 and a lot has changed.  So far, I have updated the list for V13 and up and am working on V11 and V12 (V10 no longer makes the list as there are way too many).  Check out the list http://www.newenglandbouldering.com/hardest/ and let me know if I messed anything up or if you have any additions.  Thanks.

Did you get George's new V13 below Cathedral? I am not sure on the name. Hurlyburly? (when the hurlyburly's done, the battle's lost and won) or some other Shakespearean reference.

Only comment is the Fly at V14.  It has had a bunch of roped ascents; hard to believe it is really that hard (not that I can climb it lol.). And Jason's "ropeless" ascent came after he hang dogged the shit out of it on a rope.  Not that there is anything wrong with that since I do it myself on highball problems, but clearly not what most people think of as "ropeless" when talking about a boulder problem.

Yup http://www.climbing.com/news/fly-boys-at-rumney-2/
"Consensus seems to be placing the climb at hard V13."

If the landing was nice and flat, I am sure it would have more ascents.

There's the old Dave Graham Problem the Arete of Death V11 and on the same Boulder, to the left of the arete, another problem rumored to be in the V13/14 range... Both in Pawtuckaway State Park over by the Yellow Dog walls.

Ok, now this should get interesting as I have added the V12s to the list. I have gotten lots of conflicting info so I did the best I could for this first cut. Please comment and I will make adjustments.  I will research the suggestions you guys have made here.

I added Bonsai Tamer to the list but can't find any info on the Cathedral ledge problem Hurlyburly?  Anyone have a link or more info?

Thanks.
