Rainbow Slabs

Would anyone be willing to venture their opinion on whether it would be crazy to go to Rainbow Slabs this (sunny) weekend? Will we bake to death on the slab?

Should be great weather to head there IMO... 4 essentials (applied in this order):

Sunblock

Deet

100oz CamelBak

Cold PBR in the car

Totally do-able

I dont think Rainbow gets as scorching as Whitehorse Slabs... and you get the river crossing on the way out to cool off...

At the Crack in the Woods pullout,  there is a pretty good swimming area as well

Along similar lines, after many years I finally convinced my lil' brother to go on a multi pitch climb with me and my fiancee. We want to take him up White Horse in two weeks. Is that nuts or doable? Any tips? I can't ever remember climbing it in July. I know it will be uncomfortable but him and Laura can carry tons of water. We climb so slow, I would not wait until the afternoon.

Luke - as usual you are wrong. Rainbow dries very fast this time of year. It gets sun early and keeps it most of the day.
Chris - it all depends on what route you are thinking of, but you should start early.

Standard Route. We did it two weeks ago and it was in the 80s. It was hot but we crouched for an hour of shade at Lunch Ledge. I read somewhere that slab is harder in that kinda heat though I read somewhere else that shoes are stickier. Would def prefer something else but this has been a few years in the making.

Not sure if black flies are still bad, but Rainbow can be unbearable during the height of black fly season imo.

Getting in that rainbow/Painted alcove thing can be pretty bad for sure.... Table ledge is nearby

Chris- i would do any route OTHER than Standard...Dike route, Stadmuller etc..standard can be ahorror show mid summer

We did Cormier Magness a few weekends ago in the 80s.  Wasnt too bad.  You do get some shade along the way, not polished like the other routes, and no one know about it yet!  Take it to the top too.  The pitch through the overlap is one of my favorite moves on it.
