Burly Steps 4 Kneps Fundraiser
Thursday, July 10th,  5-10pm
Flatbread Co., North Conway, NH
Silent Auction, Raffle, Live Music, & More!

SILENT AUCTION WITH GEAR FROM:  Outdoor Research, Patagonia, Mountain Hardwear, 2 Evolv crashpads, Sterling Ropes, Alpinist, Climberism, LOWA Climbing Shoes, Black Diamond, CAMP, CASSIN, IME, Bear Notch Ski Touring, EMS, Julbo Sunglasses, & MORE!

On June 8th, 2014 our friend and former MWV Valley resident Andy Knepshield (aka “Kneps”) was pursuing his passion for rock climbing in the Pacific North West. He was climbing with a partner at Little Si in North Bend, Washington on the World Wall. While Andy was climbing an accident occurred with the belaying process and Andy fell over 70ft! An emergency search and rescue team rushed Andy to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.  The good news, he is alive!

With this being said, he had surgery to fight internal bleeding. In addition, he has multiple broken bones (6 broken ribs), kidney damage, and has lost his spleen. He has suffered with a mild traumatic brain injury, broken neck (c3), collapsed lung (now pneumonia), splenectomy due to internal bleeding, a broken sacrum, a broken pelvis bone, and lots of abrasions and contusions.  We now know Andy will pull through this, but it will be a very long and painful recovery.

Andy and his amazing wife Emily are going to need all the help we can give them.  They are both going to need our financial support through Andy’s long recovery and rehab.  Andy will be out of work for quite some time.  He spent 18 days in the hospital, about 16 of those in the ICU.  He is now how and working on swallowing (still has to be fed through a tube) and is working on moving his legs.  By the end of July they hope he can start working on walking!  Now is the time to offer what you can to this amazing person- every dollar / donation counts!  Andy and his wife Emily also need our love, support and powerful thought of recovery and strength.

Andy and Emily are incredible people with roots in Ohio, Brooklyn, Nashville, Seattle, and of course he lived in our very own Mount Washington Valley for a lengthy period.  Andy would be too humble to ask directly for this much support and we know he will be eternally grateful for all the care and generosity sent his way.

We will be holding a fundraiser event at Flatbread Pizza in North Conway, NH:
