Anyone Been Skiing Recently?
« on: December 07, 2014, 09:47:40 AM »
Anyone been alpine skiing in the north country? Wondering how conditions are. Did the mountains get snow yesterday, or wet freezing slop like we got down here around Concord?

Wildcat had 6+ powder until around noon, then I think they got a bit of slop. Check Bretton Woods & Wildcat's Facebook pages for current shots... so far it's been a great start to the season!

For that the French have a superb expression-- "Il pleut comme vache qui pisse sur rocher plat" -- translation: "it's raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock"   :o

Argghh. Was afraid of that because it was supposed to turn to snow down here in Concord around 3pm, and it's still raining hard.

Wildcat, Cannon and Bretton Woods all picked up some heavy wet stuff.  We'll take it!

Was gonna ask about the rain/snow elevation over in the NC area; thanks for the updates!

As an aside per Jeff's French term:  I lived at an ag fraternity as an undergrad, populated mostly by dairy and horse kids, ag eng/ag mech majors, and some of us bio/chem geeks.  Oddly enough, there were often a fair number of co-eds around, mostly farm girls as well.  The living 'suites' adjoined some common bathrooms on each floor, and we were pretty casual about privacy.
Too casual in one case, it turns out.
I'm in the middle of a pretty high-velocity-and-volume micturition when down the hall comes this female voice, LOUDLY - "Hey, Dale, you sound like a pregnant Guernsey pissing on a rock!"

Scarred me for life, I from that day forward divert my stream to the margin of the bowl and attempt 'stealth' voiding.

Dale
If it's overhanging, I'm probably off-route.

LMAO Dale-- must say that my cousins from PEI, Canada ( also farm kids) were familiar with the analogy! ;D

The farm kids have a way with words, don't they?  I've been around my fair share and still consider many of them as friends, so I'm quite familiar with the type.

You weren't in an AGR house, by chance?

No, not at all but, family farming background from NH (way back) and PEI (cousins) has given me an appreciation for certain aspects of the life. However I've never heard any of them use the term "micturition"-- I bet your coed would have asked " Dale, who the F#*k talks like that!"  :police: ;D

Yep, Jeff.  Some of 'em would even sneak a pinch of chew during work parties.
(In all honesty, the "Little Sisters", who became full members of the fraternity at graduation, were outstanding women - tough, smart, funny, sexy, independent.  But they could almost to a one swear a blue streak if needed.  I was pledgemaster for a semester, and I may have learned some new words from the girls of that class.  The guys were tame by comparison.)

Danf, way back in the day, those woulda been fighting words!  (Before my time, of course...)

Alpha Zeta, Morrill/Penn State.
Kind of an anomaly as only three of the chapters of AZ actually had houses and acted like a 'normal' frat.  AGR, Delta Tau Sigma (talk about cow kids!), and Tau Phi Delta ('Treehouse', the forestry dudes) were (semi-)friendly rivals during my time.
Also an anomaly in that I'm the least-social person I know, so I can't even explain why I ended up at AZ anyway, but it was fine for 4 years.

Dale

HOLY THREAD DRIFT - sorry, folks!
