Well can't be that definative cause they got the first statistic wrong in the 3rd paragraph. Unless she flew right back on after her trip was turned around, she never sumitted Denali....

Thnx for pointing that out. You're right of course, I'd heard that. Apparently she was very upset about that too.

Great article, thanks.

I'm awfully glad I did the Presidential traverse and Mt Washington many times in winter BEFORE climbing Rainier and then Denali.   On Denali, we met climbers from Colorado who were so overconfident that they were on the mountain and climbed to 17,000 feet in like three days and then bailed because a three day blizzard moved in.  We had more than week's worth of food and fuel, because were were expecting the weather to be like that.   They hiked down and then flew out (because the planes could finally get in) the day I summited.

Being WAY overconfident does not serve you well in the mountains, even little ones.

Al posted this link on the NEClimbs Facebook page... very well written:

I just realized that the author of this article is the same person who wrote a biography of Henry Barber probably 20 years ago.

Correction Al-- the author of On Edge: The Life and Climbs of Henry Barber was Chip LEE, not Brown, and it was published in 1982--    33 years ago! Time flies!

This book is quite book, I agree. And not only have I not even finished the book, I haven't even started. But don't let that stop me from breathlessly exclaiming stuff. Or whatever.

And then you got Lotman's review with his BUY THIS HERE WITH MY TOTALLY WHOREBAG LINKS review.

For shame.

Hope you guys can live with yourselves. Hope it''s worth it gents.

Have a quiche, now, or maybe a tort.  You deserve it!

A smarter person wouldn't respond here. I've proven I'm not that smart soooooo....

1) If you purchase the book through the Amazon link I make $.80....

2) I'd prefer readers of my review support local businesses, hence the inclusion of:

Find this book locally at the White Mountain Cafe in Gorham, NH, White Birch Books in North Conway, NH, at SOLO in Conway, NH, and the White Mountain Wanderer in Lincoln, NH, and International Mountain Equipment in North Conway

Writing reviews take time and effort, much more than having to consider a response to your post.

Thanks in advance to those who appreciated a local review of the book. Also happy to lend my copy to anyone local who would like to check it out with out buying it.
