This just in from Chris Lemay:

i was up on fafnir/black dike on tuesday and the approach is a nightmare!!! there is a ton of water ice under the snow on the scree slope and the bike trail. needless to say it makes for a slippery and dangerous. i almost took the express route down the scree slope on the descent. approach. could you post something to warn potential climbers of this.

i was back up attempting fafnir and the approach up the scree slope was alot better than tuesday. we backed off of fafnir because the ice on the second pitch was rotten, hollow and detached. so it'll have to wait until next season. hopefully it will be a better season
