Broken Ribs
« on: June 28, 2016, 07:57:50 pm »
Broke a rib. Can't climb. Can't run. Can't ride. Can't paddle. Can't swim.

What are my options folks?

Ribs SUCK, they hurt like hell and you can't do shit about it! A couple of weeks of good beer and whatever they gave you for the pain and you will be good to go.

Sorry man, Hope you feel better soon.

Ugh. I cant stand the idea of losing my fitness level. I have a new appreciation for simply walking.

I am not actually taking anything for pain. This makes me stronger right?

Not to sure about that. Ribs are a real bitch pain wise. If I were you I would actually get into a pain medication routine for at least a good 10 days. Tylenol is a good option just follow the every six hour dosing and back off the beer while your on it. Do forget to ice the ribs too!! Ice goes farther than you would think.

I've broken ribs twice (once on a fall on Three Birches . . . it was wet, big surprise).  Sleeping was the worst, and I think I took Advil or something like that.  It helped psychologically at least.  Just chill until you feel better.  It takes a while.

Grip strength is good though. Ive been going for walks carrying heavy rocks by crimping only. Better than nothing.

I remember that one...i really worked hard to keep you laughing and in pain.

Z---i would try to add a couple more ribs to the menu..why not,   but i do no think a sternum broken would help.

There's nothing you can really do for ribs.....wait out the bugs and humidity

Late to this, sounds like you're already over the hump (first week's a bitch).  I found taping or a long Ace wrapped tightly made a huge difference, did that for 2 weeks, off/on acetaminophen and vit I.  Sleeping was hard.

Good luck.

Lot of good advice here-- one more-- stay away from friends with lots of good jokes, and things that make you cough or sneeze.
