Unrelated to the day in question, but I thought this was missing from the conversation:

I just became an SPI recently, and one key thing we learned was the importance non-client communications. If it was possible for the guide to have a quick chat with iclimb, why didn't he? Was it possible? These kinds of quick and simple check ins with nearby parties was a standard part of my training, so it stood out to me that it didn't happen in this situation.

One other note to iclimb - on the contrary to what I wrote above - snow coming down as you describe is really not much to complain about, which could be the reason this guide didn't have a quick chat with you. I am guessing after you take your first big dinner plate on the back you will remember my words and you will agree with me.
