Title: Small pro
Post by: danf on April 20, 2013, 08:17:43 AM
I'm ready to buy some small cams (tax return and all....).  Just not sure which direction to go....  What are everyone's thoughts on C3's vs Aliens?  And to throw another wrench in there, the new BD X4 is available now- has anyone played with those yet?  C3's would be the cheapest, Aliens most expensive and the X4's fall right in the middle of them.  Cost is a bit of an issue, but if the Aliens are better suited I'd rather pay the upfront cost now.

I dig the C3s. Worth every penny I feel.... Hit your local gear shop and fiddle with them all and see which one tickles your fancy the most

I have old aliens  and mastercams.   I have a Yellow TCU that i'd trade for a mastercam in a heartbeat.

I do not see any advantage to shorter units. I like the metelious Tcu and smaller 4CU  because they place securely. I also Ile the BD units and the aliens because of the reach advantage and less likly to get completly burried ina crack.

I like tcu's.  I placed aliens a few times and don't think they're bad, just not worth the extra money to me.  Find a guy wit the different sets and check them out,  Maybe even somebody at the crag will let you piddle with them while they organize their gear.  I bought my first cams without trying them out and regretted it horribly.

A member here PM'd me and had 3 Aliens for sale for a heck of a price.  He met me at Rumney today and I now have 3 Aliens in my possession that are used but in good shape.  I'll be buying a few more to finish out the set it looks like.

Wild Country Long Stem Zeros.

Have a few Aliens, but none of the real small ones, like em.  Have the smallest and a bigger Mastercam, like em.  Have used the C3s, like em.
