Title: Rock Climbs in Southern Maine
Post by: climber377 on June 22, 2007, 11:30:17 AM
Does anyone know of any worthy climbing areas in southern Maine besides the quarry in portland? I know that bradbury mtn. has some bouldering but I'm looking for a trad or toprope area. Within 30 minutes or so of Freeport. I have heard that there are a few hidden crags out there.

I'll be checking out Whiskeag Crag in Bath (I live a few miles away) this weekend.  I just moved here so I don't know if it's any good yet.  I won't post results publicly as access may be a little funky, but I'll PM you if it's any good.

A 15 minute bushwhack to a mossy, misquito clouded, 20' choss pile.  The wife and I brushed off about 15 ticks between us, too.  Don't even know why it's listed in RC.com's routes.  Whiskeag is out!
