BOLTS - I DON'T NEED NO STEENKIN BOLTS!  ::)

put up a 5.7 today on the lead. 2 pitches, 2 pins and natural pro! Not a single bolt...

SO THERE!!!   ;D

One More Adventure 5.7

Description: A fun little adventure climb. You could argue that the second pitch is a bit on the "R" side, but as these things go it's not bad. It was all done on the lead and then cleaned when we were rappelling it the first time.

Directions: Located on the left of Humphrey's in the new area left of Cakewalk. Look for a relatively clean slab 100' left of Tree Keys. One More Adventure starts in the middle of the slab. There are 2 pins in the first pitch, however these are not visible from the ground.

Pitch 1: Climb up the middle of the slab on good holds for 20'. Clip a down facing pin on your right and climb over the left-facing corner. There is a gear placement above if you are of moderate to tall height. Foot traverse easily left on the small ledge to a right facing corner. Clip another pin just above and right of the tip of the corner, or place a nut in the corner, and then climb the corner to the nice tree ledge. Belay from a tree. 5.7, 50'

Pitch 2: Climb the toe of rock at the top of the ledge. About 20' up sling the tree hanging over the rock. Continue up and a little left, then come back right and surmount a small roof (#2 Camelot). Continue up a small slab to a little nose and belay at a tree. 5.6 (R?), 50'

Descent: Rappel the route in 2 rappels with a single 60 meter rope.

Gear: Standard rack

I actually DO climb a lot with George, and have for a number of years.  ;D

generally not many new routes are R, but climbs like this can certainly be - IF you don't add stuff to  them. and this one I just don't want to.besides, it's "only a little R".  ::)

This route sounds alot like a route myself and a young lady named Camilla Girgus (Chris Gill's old girlfriend) did many years ago. Back in the early 80's she and I did about 4 maybe 5 different routes in the vicinity of this route. Of course my memory is fuzzy (these days I can't remember what I had for breakfast) so anyways it sounds like a pleasant outing. I don't recall ever writing up these as new routes as they all seemed to be pretty obvious lines. We just assumed someone had done them before.

almost everything here in the Valley has been climbed at one time or another I would guess. however IMNSHO if no one writes them up or makes any effort to turn them into a route, as opposed to an adventure, all bets are off.  ::) in this particular case there was no gear available on this line and no sign that anyone had climbed it before, in fact that is the case for all of the things we put up.

If a man states something in the forest and there is no woman there to hear it, is he still wrong? :P

It depends how long one has been at the moat

Do I understand it correctly that "One More Adventure 5.7" is between High Steppin' and Old Crow? It's not in the database and you say "100' left of Tree Keys" in the description.

10 years, that's a LONG time ago. HA I guess I forgot about it altogether. This is BETWEEN High Steppin' and Life Of Riley. I think it was done before I did Riley. I'm not sure that the pins mentioned are there any more. however, the gear is OK. you're probably better off climbing Riley and then continuing.

Thanks! I saw the post when Old Crow was written up and it said if was just right of this one. But didn't notice this was before High Steppin' was climbed/written up. Makes sense.

I tried to tell the difference between Life Of Riley and One More Adventure. I guess the start is the same as then they separate and are next to each other higher up? Not sure how much you remember.

originally Adventure had a separate start, but then I created Riley and so that was easier & generally better.
so you would climb Life Of Riley to the ledge, then walk to the back of it and continue up behind a big tree and slightly angle left up the slab.
