 Hope you are feeling better, John. I had bronchial pneumonia for a month and know how horrible it can be. I basically couldn't eat for the whole month since I was constantly coughing my brains out until I would fall asleep from exhaustion. I got down to under 115 pounds. It got brought on when I got too exuberant having a smoke while XC skiing in -5deg weather.

Was one of many folks who dealt with bronchitis this winter, 6-8 weeks of kitten-weak, wheeze/cough.
Thought I was over it enough (and friggin' climbing the walls from inactivity by then) to make plans to play in Huntington with Derek as my first trip out post-'recovery'.

Huge mistake.
Sucking wind the entire approach, dying by the Fan.  Ready to make all sorts of bad choices from hypoxemia but luckily Derek was a good sport and let us boulder up Yale a bit and then beat a retreat back to Pinkham.

On the way home I stopped by the hospital to check on a patient and popped a pulse ox on my finger.
SpO2 = 82%.
Not so good.

Don't push it.

What's with that attitude, John?  It is an unfortunate circumstance and bad "slump" for you but you will get through it.  Get well soon!  Once you get your strength and energy back, you will be thinking of FA again!
We want that!

Agreed!   Don't give up, positive thinking and soon you'll be back to positive drinking and climbing.

Slabbo,

You have led an exemplary life - and I am not just talking about climbing.  Lots to be proud of.  You might be surprised at the number of sports weenies and gym rats who are aware of what you have done and do respect it.  Your life has been full of adventures and for sure another one is here now.  You've always pulled though before - I know you can this time too.

Hey John, You're going to be just fine. A little slice here and a little dice there and you will be all patched up for the next 55 years. I have faith in you. Let us know how it all works out. Thoughts and prayers (even though I don't believe in God) are with you.

John, all best wishes to you. Use some of that great energy and strength the rock has given you over the years to heal up.

I did a big circuitous bushwhack around to the north side of Green's a couple weeks ago with Amy Cobourn looking for a faster way in. I went back in this Friday and think I found it. Only 1 hour 25 minutes with no bike to the Main cliff and I passed the tops of the eastern crags to get there. A number of strong climbers have expressed interest in getting out there now, so your test piece may soon get some action :)

Sending you all positive energy, John, and will be thinking of you Thursday. Stay as stubborn as our NH granite and I'm confident you'll pull through this one the way you've done on so many of your climbs. Thinking of you and wishing you well.
