Hi Folks,
Mount Washington Valley Ice Fest starts tomorrow - Friday. In spite of the predicted weather overnight, there's plenty of ice and it's going to be great fun. I'll be out guiding on Friday and Sunday, so be sure to say hi if you get the chance.

I think that these numbers below are enough for today. Especially the number of deaths from COVID in the US alone, which will surpass 900,000 in a day or 2!
New Hampshire:
9 New deaths reported
1,394 New cases reported
9,204 Active cases
278 Current hospitalizations for COVID
2,232 Total deaths due to COVID-19
United States:
Confirmed: 75,850,789
Deaths: 895,826
Global:
Confirmed: 386,891,974
Deaths: 5,707,157

I find JHU's Daily COVID-19 Data in Motion report to be very informative. It shares critical data on COVID-19 from the last 24 hours in a short 1 minute animated video format.

OUR ONLY WAY OUT IS IF YOU GET VACCINATED, WHERE RECOMMENDED PLEASE STILL WEAR A MASK, WASH YOUR HANDS!
REMEMBER - WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER
I rode the Albany Town Forest on Saturday just before the storm and the Marshall trails on Monday and Tuesday. While both were good, the Marshall was groomed and was really superb. It will take a few days to come back after this storm is done, but I highly recommend riding them.

Up on one of the Mount Washington Valley's finest crags and want to know what that climb you're looking at is? Or maybe you're on your way up from Boston and want to check out the Ice Report for your upcoming weekend plans. Or more likely, you're at work just want to daydream about your next adventure. Well if you have a smart phone handy, you can get to NEClimbs from anywhere you have cell service. While it doesn't offer every single feature of the site and it's not an "app", in mobile form, it does do a whole lot and is very useful. Here is the live link to the mobile version of NEClimbs:

Check it out and if you have issues on your specific phone, please feel free to let me know.
Join us and LIKE us on Facebook. I'll try and post interesting pix every Thursday and the latest Ice Report in the season, tho certainly not the whole Report. Here's where you can check it out:

The vias normales had perfect lines but new rock was the essence of climbing for us; throwing loose holds over the shoulder, feeling the exposed grains crush like sugar on footholes.... |
