This is my biggest week for music and with concerts tonight (Thursday) and another on Saturday I really don't have time to write! Shucks, the past week I haven't done more than practice, go to the gym a couple of times, grab 1 bike ride and get up to Mt Forist with Tom Callaghan a couple of days ago. Oh yeah, and stack some wood every morning...
Tho it was cloudy Sunday, the cliff was dry and it wasn't too hot. Tom and I did Madigan and 2 other fun climbs where you walk in, and he led my climb Birthday Boy down on the far right. As I may have mentioned before, there recently was a big rockfall in the middle of the cliff and it made a mess of the trail about halfway between Madigan and BB. You can get through, but it needs some chain saw work. If I get some time I'll try to do some on it maybe next week.
Since I don't have time to write, here's a few links to articles to read if you haven't seen them on FB or elsewhere. The first one is truly impressive.
SHAMELESS SELF PROMOTION:
I'm with the Bradley jazz Collective at the Brick Church in Lovell tonight. This is a great quartet that Ive been performing with for 8 years. Pianist Jed Wilson and sax player Mike Sakash are as good as it gets. Then on the Saturday the 17th I'll be doing a concert at the Majestic Theater in Conway Village with the Mike Levine Sextet. I've known him since 1976 and he is an amazing composer and latin-jazz pianist. He is bringing a great percussionist and drummer up from Miami for this show. Check out this video:
INSTANT BUG REPORT: 1
Nothing but some mosquitoes here & there and a few ticks to watch out for.
Ice Conditions Report:
Selected Ice Conditions effective November 27, 2025
There is minimal snow up in Crawford Notch. The pictures below are from Wednesday. While I drove through the notch today, I didn't bring a camera. However there is substantially less ice up there than there was yesterday. Mid day Wednesday it was 46 degrees at the Dry River Campground and 41 at the Highland Center. It rained a bit overnight as well. Today it was 40 at the Center! I have seen some great pictures of Pinnacle Gully from earlier in the week, but none from yesterday or today. That said, things will most certainly get better as the weekend goes on.

SOME LOCAL/NATIONAL PANDEMIC THOUGHTS:
I saw a presentation by the head of the WHO basically saying that the numbers are definitely going down and we are in much better shape going forward. He also said that we need to be careful not to let our guard down at this stage of the pandemic. I'm getting my third booster next week and I urge you to do the same. Really, why take a chance?
New Hampshire:
? New death(s) reported over past 5 days - AGAIN DATA IS NOT AVAILABLE!!!
1,507 Active cases
17 Current hospitalizations being treated for COVID
2,671 Total deaths due to COVID-19
United States:
Confirmed: 95,507,161
Deaths: 1,052,371 (up 3,000)
I find JHU's Daily COVID-19 Data in Motion report to be very informative. It shares critical data on COVID-19 from the last 24 hours in a short 1 minute animated video format.

VALLEY CYCLING:
Haven't ridden but once this week. Too busy and went to the gym instead... Got out for an hour today over here on the west side and it's all good, other than some branches down from the wind.
Mobile Version Of NEClimbs:
Up on one of the Mount Washington Valley's finest crags and want to know what that climb you're looking at is? Or maybe you're on your way up from Boston and want to check out the Ice Report for your upcoming weekend plans. Or more likely, you're at work just want to daydream about your next adventure. Well if you have a smart phone handy, you can get to NEClimbs from anywhere you have cell service. While it doesn't offer every single feature of the site and it's not an "app", in mobile form, it does do a whole lot and is very useful. Here is the live link to the mobile version of NEClimbs:
Check it out and if you have issues on your specific phone, please feel free to let me know.

Climbing is a very dangerous sport. You can get hurt or even kill yourself. When you go climbing, you do so of your own free will. Everything on this site is to be taken with a grain of salt. Don't blame us if you get up some totally heinous route, in over your head and fall and hurt yourself.
