Rainy day, rain all day
Ain't no use in gettin' uptight, just let it groove its own way
Let it drain your worries away
Lay back and groove on a rainy day
Lay back and dream on a rainy day
Got no other choice peeps... We can talk to the weather, but she doesn't often heed our call. That's right, we had more rain, both Tuesday AND Wednesday. Close to 3/4" here in the happy Valley, and close to double that in the notches. [sheesh] I understand that there has been ice up in the Ravines and word has it that Cloudwalker is FAT. But for those of us who linger in the lowlands, the choices are somewhat slim. It's going to happen, we all say [fingers xed]. But we just don't know when. In the meantime...

INSTANT ICE REPORT: 1
YIKES... We got pretty much a hard reset on an already mediocre start to the 2022 ice season. It WILL be here, but the operative question is of course WHEN. I've seen pics of Tucks and Huntington from a couple of days ago, but who really knows what's it's like right now. Stay tuned..
Selected Ice Conditions effective November 27, 2025
There is minimal snow up in Crawford Notch. The pictures below are from Wednesday. While I drove through the notch today, I didn't bring a camera. However there is substantially less ice up there than there was yesterday. Mid day Wednesday it was 46 degrees at the Dry River Campground and 41 at the Highland Center. It rained a bit overnight as well. Today it was 40 at the Center! I have seen some great pictures of Pinnacle Gully from earlier in the week, but none from yesterday or today. That said, things will most certainly get better as the weekend goes on.

I know there are lots of ways to get climbing conditions info these days. Believe me when I say that I appreciate every single donation, no matter how small. The donation list is current now. I try to thank everyone personally, hopefully if you donated I didn't miss you.

SOME LOCAL/NATIONAL PANDEMIC THOUGHTS:
A very good friend who lives herein the Valley is struggling with the flu. It looks like it may be turning into pneumonia. He didn't get all his p=boosters and hasn't gotten the current flu shot. I'm pretty concerned and want him to go to the hospital sooner than later. there is a lot of stuff going around right now. I won't/can't just stay at home, but I'm darn careful about sanitizing and washing my hands, and I try to stay away from people who are obviously sick. I won't give up living my life, but I'll get all the shots that are offered these days.

VALLEY CYCLING:
I've ridden several times this week. One was my loop through Birch Hill, into Cedar Creek and back home via the Electric Loop. That was good with no mud, snowy patches or ice. The other was up through Hales to Boulder Ridge to the old Carroll Reed Trail, cross the stream and down the road back thru Hales. Unfortunately the plank that's usually across the brook had been washed downstream several hundred feet. I was able to get across, but it was a bit tricky. With all this fresh rain I gotta figure it's going to be a bit muddy for a day or two. It may be time to do another pass at Whittaker Woods since that's always dry.
Mobile Version Of NEClimbs:

Climbing is a very dangerous sport. You can get hurt or even kill yourself. When you go climbing, you do so of your own free will. Everything on this site is to be taken with a grain of salt. Don't blame us if you get up some totally heinous route, in over your head and fall and hurt yourself.
