April 20, 2023

Hi Folks,

Ice season is fully over and honestly I don't have much to talk about from my standpoint right now. That is unless you want to hear me talk about music or the bike. [wry grin] I've only gotten out for a little bouldering so far, but that will change soon I'm sure.

There is some stuff going on in the Valley. Not the least of which is a series of prescribed burns planned for Etna, Carroll, Conway, Twin Mountain, Warren, Gorham, Milan, Stark, and Chatham NH, and Gilead and Bethel Maine. The one in Conway will take place between Hales Location and the Moats, near the Tent Boulder. I am not sure as to the exact dates for the local burns, but if you are interested in reading more about it you can download a PDF here:

Having been through a fire up near North Moat about 15 years ago, this is a bit nerve-racking.

GO FUND ME FOR ED WEBSTER DAUGHTER AND ARCHIVES::
Henry Barber has put together a GoFundMe for Ed Webster's Climbing Archives and his daughter. Please check it out. If you click the "Read more" link just left of the second picture down you will get a lot more information. Ed gave so much to the climbing community, here's a chance to support his legacy.

DONATIONS::
Thanks to all of you who have donated to NEClimbs & the 2023 White Mountain Report Fundraiser. There are lots of ways to get ice conditions info these days, but after doing this for 22 years I'd like to think I have something unique to offer. If you haven't donated, I would appreciate your support.

VALLEY CYCLING:
It's been pretty dry so the trails are getting better every day. That's changing starting Sunday and continuing through early next week, so be aware. There WILL be mud friends!

Remember - climb hard, ride far, stay safe and BE NICE.

Mobile Version Of NEClimbs:
Up on one of the Mount Washington Valley's finest crags and want to know what that climb you're looking at is? Or maybe you're on your way up from Boston and want to check out the Ice Report for your upcoming weekend plans. Or more likely, you're at work just want to daydream about your next adventure. Well if you have a smart phone handy, you can get to NEClimbs from anywhere you have cell service. While it doesn't offer every single feature of the site and it's not an "app", in mobile form, it does do a whole lot and is very useful. Here is the live link to the mobile version of NEClimbs:

Check it out and if you have issues on your specific phone, please feel free to let me know.
